The game has changed

The Bowery Boys were a notorious Old New York gang from the 1840’s, politicised and powerful owning most of the butchers, cured meat and smoke houses. Their ship was tight and their style was tighter. 

"We really wanted to bring all day and late night dining to Newcastle city, this is a restaurant for the people, a venue all great cities deserve with an unrivalled list of wines and small batched cocktails." Ethan and Ryan.

 

 

SMoked cured pickled

Local, fresh and  seasonal. Where possible we source our produce and game from our farm on the Liverpool plains of NSW. The meats hang above the white butchers tiles amongst menacing cleavers and blades from a bygone era.

SMALL BatCH Cocktails

An exceptional cocktail list to accompany your dining experience. barrel aged negronis, swizzles, shrubs and house made sodas to name a few. Created and bottled in house by Ryan Hawthorne and Chris Woodger of Coal & Cedar.

Our menu focuses on forgotten skills in the kitchen involving a commitment to getting the very best from our produce with classic techniques such as smoking, curing and pickling.

Executive Chef Steven Zielke is passionate about bringing to the table the best possible expressions of these techniques.

At The Bowery Boys we can cater to any size groups. Legendary feasts and exotic wines on long intimate tables surrounded by jars and jars of pickling vegetables and photographs of the five points, Old New York.

Tables of 3 or more have the option of a $60pp 8 course shared feast for the whole table. Incredible value and a very unique experience.

Chef Steven Zielke, has relocated from Sydney to be at the helm of the Bowery Boys, he’s best known for his award winning work at Buffalo Dining Club, Chester White and Table for 20, Surry Hills and is a welcome addition to the Newcastle scene.

The boys have made a name for themselves in Sydney's most famous small bars such as Sticky Bar, in Surry Hills and The Ivy, Sydney’s only rooftop pool bar and now they bring their style and sophistication to Newcastle. Also owners and creators of Coal & Cedar.
